An Alumbody stake bed is an aluminum flatbed with stake pockets and lift out stake sides. Drop the sides in to haul green waste, mulch, brush, pipe or equipment; lift them out and you have an open deck for pallets and forklift loading.

Standard lift out gates are 30", 38" and 41" tall, with custom heights available. Mix styles per side — lift out sides with a 22" fold down rear gate, barn doors in the rear, or a liftgate. See every option on our stake bed gates page.

FAQ

Stake bed questions

What is a stake bed truck?

A stake bed is a flatbed with stake pockets along the edges and removable stake sides (gates) that drop into them. Leave the sides in to contain tall or loose loads, or lift them out for an open flatbed.

What height stake sides do I need?

Our standard lift out gates are 30", 38" and 41" tall, and we build custom heights. Landscapers and tree crews usually choose 38" or 41"; 30" suits general hauling.

Can I remove the stakes and use it as a flatbed?

Yes. Lift out gates pull straight up out of the stake pockets, so you can run the truck as a flatbed and drop the sides back in when you need them.

Can I mix stake sides with a fold down or liftgate rear?

Yes — many of our stake beds use lift out sides with a 22" fold down rear gate, barn doors in the rear, or a Tommy Gate liftgate.

Do you build replacement stake sides for an existing bed?

Yes. We fabricate complete gate assemblies and replacement gates and stakes, including for older trucks.
