When a Catalog Bed Will Not Cut It

Most of what we build does not appear in a brochure. A municipal traffic-control truck needs cone racks, arrow-board mounts, and a generator compartment that vents under load. A camper-hauler needs a flat aluminum deck tied into the frame so a slide-in pops on and off without flexing the body. A CNG fleet needs vented tank wells that meet NFPA 52 clearances. A line-clearance crew wants insulated tool boxes, a buck-board step, and a chainsaw scabbard within arm's reach of the cab. Every one of those builds is one-of-a-kind, and every one of them is what we mean by "custom."

The build starts with a site visit or a phone call where we walk through how the truck is loaded, what tools live on it full-time, what the driver complains about on the current bed, and what the truck has to do that a stock body cannot. We sketch the layout in CAD, send dimensioned drawings for sign-off, then fabricate in-house in Orange, California — no contract welding, no farmed-out paint. The result is a body that fits the job the first time, instead of a generic bed the crew has to work around.

Frequently asked questions

What kind of jobs do custom beds usually serve?

Traffic control, line-clearance and tree care, irrigation, HVAC service, pool service, mobile welding, camper hauling, fleet utility, CNG and propane delivery, and municipal maintenance — among others. If the job needs a layout a catalog body does not solve, we build for it.

Do I need engineered drawings before you can quote?

No. A conversation, a few photos of the current truck, and a description of what you load is enough to scope the project. We produce the CAD drawings as part of the build.

What is the lead time on a one-off custom bed?

Typical lead time is 6–10 weeks from approved drawings to delivery, including paint or powder coat. Fleet builds with repeat specs run faster on units 2 through N.
